Monthly Random: June

Since my last "random" post seemed to be of interest to you, I think I'm gonna make a habit out of this :) Also, it's a perfect occasion to post all those pictures that accumulate yet aren't really enough to write an own blog entry about. June's almost over, so here's my picture-heavy "Monthly Random" for June!

Went "flood watching" at the Donauinsel...

Tried to style and cut a wig for the first time... maybe I'll write a separate entry about this ordeal XD

Went to the open campus day of a nearby university... can you see why I'd just LOVE to study there? :'D

Summer make up? Naaah.

Organized a little Lolita meet-up and wore Sweet Lolita!

Went to our inofficial graduation party. Wore a summer dress for once and it kept raining all day .... <_<

Cherished my first strawberry harvest this year! I got the little plant 5 years ago and it has grown so much ♥

Among them was the tiniest strawberry I had ever seen XD

Started to move my clothes to my parents' place (by now, we've almost finished moving everything...)

Registered at MyStyleHit :) Add me as a friend if you're there too!

Got these from a girl on Dunkelsüß - I have a very specific coord in mind for the Innocent World Tea Party already and they're gonna be a part of it!

Got the formal invitation for my brother's wedding ♥

And of course we spent the hottest week of the year so far moving our sparse but bulky furniture to my boyfriend's dad's house. I was so dead after that.

Last week end, my parents had a big garden party and I baked something for the guests.

Oh my, I look like zombie!

At the end of the garden party, I felt really bad. I've been somewhat sick all week, which was really annoying during the moving, but at the end of that day I was completely dead, began to lose my voice and got a fever. And on Sunday morning I had lost my voice and developed a cough. Luckily I had been to the doctor on Friday already and she had given me antibiotics to take if it didn't get any better, so I started to take them on Sunday. As for now, I'm stuck at my parents' place where I've been since the party, sleeping in the guest room and spending the day sleeping, watching TV and playing Pokémon. I feel really bad that I can't help my boyfriend with moving, we still have our bed, his computer and desk at the flat in Vienna, but at least I hope my uncle will be able to help him transport the stuff this week and we will be done soon. It really sucks being sick in summer, but at least the weather is not that hot anymore this week!

Another thing that happened this month, which I don't have any pics of, is that I started to take up Pilates exercises once again. I started with Cassey Ho's Blogilates program on 1st June, and kept up very well for the first two weeks. After the festival, we had super hot weather and I had to slow down, especially the cardio exercises were just impossible for me at 35°C inside our room... and then I became sick so these last days I didn't do anything :( I feel really bad, but on the other hand - just from those two weeks of training I already made so much progress! I really love her videos and her training calendars, so next month, I'll definitely pick up the training again.

Next month will be my graduation ceremony! I'm pretty excited already :D What are you looking forward to about the upcoming month? ^^

Festival Diary: Nova Rock 2013

Hey guys! :D

Nope, I'm not dead! I've just been busy with our upcoming move and last week end I went to the Nova Rock Festival! I tweeted a little bit about it and posted some pics on my instagram too, but now I finally have time for a proper blog entry about it.

After we had some rather unpleasant experiences at our last festival, we decided that we won't be camping this time, instead we went back and forth by car each day. The festival is near Nickelsdorf, and you can go there form Vienna by car on a highway, so it's only about 30min travel time. We checked the line up first and except for Rammstein we didn't care so much for the headliners, so we were able to leave before the last acts and avoid the traffic jam around the parking lot on the other two days.

On the first day, we went there quite late too because we mainly wanted to see Rammstein. The heat at the Pannonia fields is pretty bad in June, because it's literally an open field with no shades anywhere, so we were glad that Rammstein played so late that we could avoid most of the afternoon sun. We ended up seeing a little bit of Airbourne and Thirty Seconds to Mars too, before we went back to the Blue Stage to see Rammstein and their amazing show.

My boyfriend actually didn't want to go at first but I forced him to come with me by getting him a festival ticket for his birthday, lol

We tried to meet up with friends that day, but with phone services not working and text messages taking 20-30min to arrive, it was kinda impossible :'D

I've seen Rammstein two times so far - the first time was in 2009 during their "Liebe ist für Alle da" tour. I really liked that album so I obviously enjoyed that concert. I saw them again in 2010 on Greenfield festival in Switzerland, where the show was mostly the same. This time, they played more of their older songs, and had a really cool encore with an acoustic piano version of Mein Herz brennt. It was truly beautiful! And they also played Sonne, one of my favorite songs, especially when experienced live. To me, it's always a pleasure to see them live, their show is impressive and fun to watch and their performance is... pretty much just flawless.

We went home after that safely and it was such a relief to be able to sleep in a real bed instead of a crappy tent on a noisy and dirty camping lot! I honestly don't care about the camping aspect of festivals, especially not on Nova Rock where everything turns into a dusty desert by the second day if the weather is hot. I slept badly the rest of the night nonetheless, because I had nightmares about oversleeping and missing the first act on Saturday, which was one of my favorite bands: The 69 Eyes!

Only for the Helsinki Vampires would I leave my cavern and walk through the Pannonian "desert" under the blinding sun in blazing heat!

So last Saturday a year-long dream of mine came true and I was able to see them live, though only very briefly because they had a super short stage time. But I am just so happy that I was finally able to see them, after all I've been listening to them since I was 15 and I missed all other chances, even when I was in Finland for half a year and they actually played a gig in my town!

Tiny & crappy photo is tiny and crappy. But I'm tiny too, so I had to stay a bit in the back to see the stage >_<

They played one of my favorite songs, Never Say Die :) But that's not even the best part! The 69 Eyes also gave autographs after their gig, so of course I went there and lined up to get one!

That's such a horrible photo. But I guess not many people can claim they are more pale than actual vampires, haha!

That photo is really bad, because of the blinding sun light I look like a piece of paper but hey, it's my first photo ever with musicians of one of my favorite bands! (I even had a huge fan-crush on Jussi when I was 15 :'D) I was so nervous, I was just glad I actually managed to say anything at all! XD

I stood quite far in the back during the act, but I still managed to get a pick, because some kind stage hand or crew member or something like that came to the people lining up in front of the autograph tent and gave away a whole bag full of picks!

I managed to get the pick from Linde in 2010 at Greenfield festival :3

It was really fucking hot that day, and since the bands after The 69 Eyes didn't interest me that much we went back to the car to get some rest in the shadows, drink some water and wait for our friends who came later that day.

We came back in time to see some of Parkway Drive's show. We then went to the wavebreaker to wait for HIM there, while Amon Amarth was playing. The moshpit got so much dust into the air that at times I feared my contacts would just pop out of my burning, itching eyes D: Well, in the end they stayed where they belonged long enough so I could enjoy my favorite band HIM ♥

I also got myself a T-shirt with the album cover as print :3

The show was really good. On our way there I already tried to guess the set list, and my guess was no that bad actually. I guessed they would start with Unleash the Red and then All Lips go Blue because it's the perfect opener not only for their album but also for a live gig. Then I figured they would mix some older songs with the new stuff, obviously. I also guessed correctly that they would play Kiss of Dawn and Passions Killing Floor from Venus Doom :D What I was really happy to hear was Wicked Game, I just love their version of this song!
As you can see on the blurry photo, haha, Ville was playing acoustic guitar at some parts. All in all they were great, Ville's voice seemed to have recovered well and they seemed to have fun! I always love it when i get the impression that the band actually enjoys playing their gig and have some fun with the audience - which by the way was pretty good, many people were singing along even the less widely popular songs.

I was totally hyped that night, so it took me a while to realize how exhausted I actually was from the heat, the dancing and shouting and everything. We stayed through some of Kiss' show, but then went to our car and back home. The next day, I was undecided whether I wanted to see all of the bands on the Red Stage or just rest my sun-exposed self a while longer. In the end, we went to the festival quite late because the heat was so bad that I was pretty sure I wouldn't make it through the day if I had to spend it all in the "desert".

Also, my eyes hurt so badly that I couldn't wear contacts that day. Glasses SUCK!

So we missed most of the bands that day, but I mostly cared for Korn anyway. The wavebreaker was already full when we went there during Bullet for my Valentine, so we queued up with some other people. Unfortunately, there was no tap water on the side we were waiting at, but I was getting really thirsty, so my boyfriend got us some sparkling water and forced me to drink it so I don't collapse. I really hate sparkling drinks, it was horrible XD It really sucks that the only non-alcoholic beverages they sell are all sparkling =/

Getting optical sunglasses was the best idea of 2012.

Well, in the end we were allowed to enter the wavebreaker after Bullet for my Valentine had finished, and stood there somewhat in the back. As the Red Stage is much smaller than the Blue Stage (I still haven't figured out why they had Korn play on the smaller stage when two years ago they played at the larger one and the place was crammed) the view was pretty decent anyway. I just like to have some more space for headbanging and such. Nevertheless, when Korn started to play, a moshpit formed a few rows in front of us and we were crammed together. Even after the pit was gone, there was this one guy standing in front of me so fucking close that he must have felt my breath in his neck. I couldn't move any farther back because I would have had to step on someone else's toes, and while he had about half a meter of space in front of him, he apparently prefered to have my hair tickle his back while I was headbanging to actually moving half a step forward. In the end I switched places with my boyfriend to have some more space, lol.

Woooho!

So. I openly admit that while I love their music and I think Jonathan Davis' voice was sent from heaven to pleasure my ears and their songs REALLY helped me with my anger management during my internship last winter, I actually do not know all that much about the band. I know most of their songs, though not by heart, and I just love their style. So I was somewhat confused when I suddenly saw two guitarists on stage, thinking "Wait a sceond. Last time I checked, Korn only had one...?" Back home I looked up some info on the band and found out about their reunion with their old guitarist, and I'm just happy for them, because it seems to work out very well :) They are just absolutely amazing live, even though the audience was not the best (like tickle-my-neck-guy in front of my, who just stood there stiff like a stone most of the time). But they seemed to have fun and enjoy the gig, and the songs they played were great too so in the end, I just hope they are not too disappointed in Austria as an audience :'D I really hope to see them live again, and by that time I hopefully know all of their songs by heart!

So in the end, it was a great finale for a great festival. Even if I didn't see that many bands I enjoyed all of it: I met The 69 Eyes in person, saw some of my favorite songs performed live and just had a great time! I got myself a nice festival T-shirt to remember the great time and a new HIM T-shirt too. And I got the sweetest soreness in my neck from all that headbanging.

Also, I confirmed for myself that headbanging with long hair (reaches past my waist now) is just totally awesome.

How was your week end? :)

Passion for Sweets

Hello everyone - how was your week end?
Mine was super busy but a lot of fun! On Saturday I went to the Open Campus day of the university I wanna do my PhD at (but this is still a faaaar far away future), and was able to get a tour to one of the labs... I really wanna work there one day, it's my greatest dream, so I'll work hard and hopefully get in their programme in two years!

For today I tried to organize a "Mini-Meet.up" for the Lolita community, because I wanted to go to an exhibition about pastries (sounds kinda ridiculous, but as you might know I am really into baking so I'm interested in that kind of thing) and didn't want to go alone. In the end, due to short notice and another event on the previous evening, we were only 3 girls but it was a lot of fun anyway!

Me & my friend the Punschkrapfen, haha! I looked it up, but there isn't even an English word for this pastry :D

Unfortunately, the exhibition was not really what I expected. I thought they would show a lot more about pastries and their history, and less art, I just thought it would be more historical. We had to pay full price because I forgot my student ID and the woman at the cash desk didn't accept Bibi's student ID... so we decided to see the other exhibition at the museum as well, which showed the "art" of Hermann Nitsch.

I don't know if you've ever heard of this man, if you didn't, I suggest you don't google him. He makes his art mainly with blood, dead animals and their organs. He "paints" with the blood and stages photoshoots where naked men are covered in blood and other body fluids and organs.... it's just as disgusting as it sounds. I am not very fond of most kinds of what is called "modern art" to begin with, but this man, and his "art" is just horrible and disgusting, and to me this has nothing to do with art, it is just pure provocation, voyeurism and fetish.

BUT let's forget about this & continue with more photos. I took some during the exhibition, but all in all there wasn't a lot I was interested in, the light was very dim and all in all I was just a little bit disappointed.

This sweet lady is Mary also known as Bright Eyes, check out her blog! :)

Here we have some donuts made of cloth and a beautiful cupcake.

I love floral patterns ^__^

Charlotte / "Malakoff" cake made of cloth

Old Gugelhupf recipies. Maybe I'll try them out some day :D

After looking at all the food-related stuff we were really hungry (despite the horrible Nitsch art, haha) and decided to go to the café and have some Sweets. Mary & Bibi had Punschkrapferl, it's the pink colored sweet you see on the first photo, but of course in reality it's much smaller :) I went for the "Kardinalschnitte" because it looked just epic.

And it also tasted really good.

Before we went home, we wanted to take some nice photos in the courtyard of the museum, but unfortunately it was really windy - also, I was constantly blinded by the bright sun so I messed up some camera settings and not all of the photos turned out very well. I also seem to have an allergy or something, as my eyes start to water whenever I leave the house :( Anyway, I really wanna take more photos of people and become a better photographer, so from now on I'm gonna take my camera with me to every meet-up, no matter how small, haha!

When I still had red hair myself, I always thought red & pink don't go well together. Now that I have black hair again I keep meeting people who pull it off perfectly XDD

That's my favorite one of all the photos I took! :D

Bibi was so pretty as well! She decided not to wear Lolita - a clever choice, as we had 27°C that day and I was dying from the heat D:

Herpiderpi ^^" Messy hair because it was so windy D:

Aaaand a last one where I have a posture like a pirate or something, haha!
Maybe I should try Pirate Lolita some time soon? ^^

Too bad the photos are so blurry, I suppose I won't be able to put any on Dunkelsüß once again ^^"
But I was super happy to see that my last outfit got some positive feedback on tumblr X3 I take it that I'm not doing too bad then? ^^

So, anyway, how was your week end? What did you do? :D

End of an era & new beginning

Five years ago, I had my high school final exams. A little bit more than three years ago, shortly before I started this blog, I had my interview that got me into this university. And today I had my final exams AND I PASSED!

That means I am now "Bachelor of Science in Engineering" and I even graduated with highest distinction (grade <1.2) aaaand I'm sorry if I sound super annoying but I am just SO FREAKING HAPPY!
And honestly, I'm kinda proud of myself. It's the first thing I really "achieved" after my high school graduation and I am getting more and more confident that this is just the right thing for me to do!

So right now, I am just super relieved and don't really know what to do because I have so much I could do, but nothing I have to do!

Le epic photoshop from a friend of mine, hahaha ♥

Finally, I can also look forward to the upcoming weeks and tasks and be happy about it - next week end my boyfriend and I will go to Nova Rock festival where I'll see my favorite band HIM and other bands I love like Rammstein, KoRn and The 69 Eyes! We will start to renovate our flat and hopefully move in be the end of July or mid of August. And in autumn I will start to study Medical Molceular Biology at the University of Vienna (at least that's the plan).

On another note - I don't know if you've heard about it if you're not from central Europe but Austria among other countries have been affected be severe floods lately. My home town was affected to, as it's directly next to the Danube. This was no surprise as we get floods quite frequently and our houses are built in a safe way, but still it was rather severe and even higher than in 2002. The water went down again yesterday and today, but it seems like the river carried much more mud with it this time, so everything is now soaked and dirty. So I'll probably have to help them out with cleaning up the garden this week end. (Just so you get an idea, this is about as high as it was 2 days ago, the peak was even higher...)
Other than that - I have sooo many plans right now, I am just super happy that I have some free time to do what I want! I will hopefully also get to blog much more often now! By the way, are some of you still interested in Science stuff? Because I've been thinking about blogging about topics that I find interesting once in while again, if you would like to read that?

Anway! I'll be off again, so much to do, I don't even know where I want to start, haha!

Thanks to all those people who cheered me up during all that studying and worrying ^__^v I owe you!

Lolita Tea Party at Café Süssi & Classic Lolita Outfit

Happy belated International Lolita Day!
I can hardly believe that it's been half a year already that I posted about this and kinda went to my first little meet up with other Lolitas BUT before I digress and start to be all depressive about how much I miss Finland, let me tell you about our local (Viennese) meet up on last Saturday!

A group of Lolitas came together and meet at Café Süssi here in Vienna, which is a "Salon du thé Francais", in other words, a very pretty, old-school and French-themed café. Even the menu was mostly in French! In the end, we were 18 or 19 people, I don't really remember, but it was very crammed in that little room, but also very cozy and nice :) It was a perfect location for a Lolita meet up! Initially, I wanted to wear Sweet Lolita, because the meet up was meant to celebrate Macaron Day, but when I saw the location I decided to go with a more Classic styled outfit that I've had in mind for a while now. It's very simple though, too bad you can't really see any details, not that there were very many.
But with many of the girls wearing Classic outfits, it felt like traveling back in time, sitting there in the café, sipping our tea and eating sweets :) (Too bad they didn't have any macarons in the end ;_;)

My outfit of the day with my beloved Bodyline dress :3
With the ribbon attached to the chest it doesn't look so "empty" anymore...
I agreed to meet my friend Bibi at the train station and we went the rest of the way together. It was rainy so we had umbrellas with us, and it didn't take long before a woman came up to us while we waited for two other girls, to ask if she could take a photo, and to ask us about the fashion. It's always so nice when people show genuine interest in Lolita and don't just stare at you, I really appreciate people asking, and I guess I'll never grow tired of explaining everything they want to know :) I do my best to represent the "scene" well in such situations, after all I haven't been a Lolita myself for very long yet, but I do my best, haha!

I was surprisingly happy with my outfit, though my make up didn't turn out so well this time. I tried a more toned down eye make up for the classic look but I don't know if I'm too happy with it. I think my face just looks empty without thick false lashes D: Also, I gave my blue Circle Lenses a second chance. They make my eyes look pretty dark in natural, indirect light, but I wanted to at least do something to emphasize my eyes.
I was also very unsure what to do about my hair, so I ended up just braiding it, because as you might know, my hair is almost unstyle-able. Due to the rain and everything my hair looked really messed up at the end of the day, but oh well. At least I got a halfway decent photo taken before it all went down the drain XD

If you want to get an impression of the café and the other Lolita's outfits, check out the pictures from the meet up on the facebook page :)

It was nearly impossible to pour the tea without spilling it XD we have to go back to Lolita bootcamp I suppose *derp*

The sweets were incredibly. I say incredibly because I'm still not entirely sure if I liked it or if it was really too much XD

I deifnitely have to bring my own camera for the next meet up I attend, because I feel so bad for borrowing pics from others all the time D: And especially in the cozy little café my cellphone camera was just no match for what a real camera could have done. But anyway, at least I got some pics to share :)

As for the next occasion - it will definitely come around soon! I'll probably try to initiate a trip to a nearby museum where they have an exhibition about confectionery, and as I suggested it to the other girls there seemed to be a few interested. So at some point after my exam that's what I'd like to do.
Also, I was one of the lucky few how were able to grab a ticket for the Innocent World Tea Party in October! It's crazy to think that I'm gonna attend such a fancy event when I haven't even been part of this fashion for a long time... I felt a bit insecure about my style, but everyone I asked was very supportive so I don't feel bad about going anymore ^_^ I'm very much looking forward to it and I already have an outfit in mind that I want to wear :3

In the meantime, I have to study, pass my exam, renovate my flat, maybe get a last-minute internship or job for September and reach my goal of ideal weight until my brother's wedding in August. I took up a Pilates challenge again, let's see if I will really make it XD
I don't think I'll be able to write anything more before my exam next Friday, so pretty please if you're free on that day, keep your fingers crossed for me, and after that I'll be freeee~ haha!

Wish you a nice Sunday! ^_^
